Nov 2nd

Finally there is a worthy competitor for the I-phone. Nokia has shown that it is the world leader in mobiles. It has recently released the new N-97 model. This model is affectionately touted as the I-phone killer. This model is the second model with the touch screen technology after the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. The new n-97 is developed based on the symbian s60 5th edition. It has a sleek 8.9cm and 16:9 touch screen. The model is gifted with a haptic feedback, a full QWERTY slide out keypad and an amazing 5 megapixel camera with two led flashes. The good part about the model is that the in-built memory which is a whopping 32 GB and an additional 16 GB of storage can be added through microSD. The home screen of N97 mobile computer features the people, content and media. Social networks and friends can be easily connected by simply touching the home screen of the new model. The 16:9 widescreen displays can be fully personalized with frequently updated gadgets of favourite web services and social networking sites. It also has a built in GPS and also has an electronic compass and it automatically understands where it is. The model has already been released in various countries. In my opinion the model can be a good alternative for the I-phone and the prices are economical.
NBA games go live on iPhone and Android
Oct 30th
Good news for all Basketball lovers, now you can all watch live matches from your iPhone and your iPod Touch. Not about to be outdone by basketball, pro basketball is getting in on live streaming to mobile phones. The National Basketball Association will announce its first set of applications that let fans watch games live on a mobile device. NBA League Pass Mobile will be available for download for the iPhone and the iPod Touch, and Android phones starting Friday. BlackBerry users will have to wait a bit longer, the league saying that the application will arrive “by the end of the year”. The NBA’s application will cost $39.99 and let users watch up to 40 live games per week via the Smartphone, though local TV blackout rules will still apply. Currently there is not added benefit if customers are already subscribers to the NBA’s League Pass TV package but there are plans for bundling the two in the near future. beside the live streaming app, the NBA already has its Game Time and Game Time Lite apps on Apple’s App Store, the Android Market, and BlackBerry App world. The Lite Version is free and comes with scores, stats, standings, and team schedules. Introducing this offer to Apple customers is going to increase the viewing of all basketball matches. More people would be interested in the sport and would give Baseball a run for their money. This would also help to increase the sales of Apple as most of its customers are youngsters. Introducing live TV streaming is a strategy used by Apple to leave its competitors behind. Hope this turns out to be a success and they introduce more live streaming channels.

Nokia 3720
Aug 12th
Everyone knows that Nokia has the largest share in the mobile market, but that doesn’t mean that Nokia is enjoying monopoly. There are several other companies which have come up with some awesome models and are continually aiming at the customers. Surely this has been a tough time for Nokia with the release of I phone, the Blackberry and also Sony’s Ericsson models have achieved their share on the mobile market. But one thing Nokia has accomplished in all these years is that the cheap mobiles for mid level users. Also when it comes to endurance in the mobile phones, Nokia clearly enjoys monopoly. Now the latest version Nokia has released is the 3720 model which is really a stone. The model is water resistant, dust resistant, and even shock resistant.
The model was mainly influenced by their classic models and the inner components are clearly protected from the external disturbances. The case is water resistant and dust resistant and also the external durable case comes in a variety of colors. Even the battery cover is made of durable material and it screwed to the model so one should think twice while changing the SIM or the battery. The model price varies in different countries and it will be a good choice of model for those who travel a lot.
BlackBerry Tour
Aug 8th
The Blackberry’s new model is the 3G BlackBerry Tour from RIM, which is a good move from the BlackBerry to compete with the other mobile manufacturing giants such as the Apple and the Windows model. Even though the price of the model is almost same as the I phone and other higher end models, it will be a great dilemma for the consumers to pick their choice. Ok now let us see about the features that the model offers to the customers for being picked in the present era.
The BlackBerry Tour is almost same as its predecessors such as the BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Curve 8330, BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 and BlackBerry 8830. But the uniqueness in this model is the 3 G facility offered which provides the customers with facility to make calls to more than 220 countries and sending emails to more than 170 countries. The other features included in the model that is also present in the Blackberry model is the push button Email and the ease in which the web is accessed. Coming to the entertainment view the model incorporates a 3.2 megapixels camera with geo tagging, audio and video playback and also audio and video recording. But these entertainment features are also present in the other models, but there is always a special pride in having a BlackBerry.
Watch Phone
Jul 29th
Even though there are lot of changes going on in the mobile world and the manufacturing giants are always coming with new and innovative ideas. It is true that today’s mobile contains many features which are once a mere impossibility, but one thing was always common in all the models which is the shape of the model. And this sameness leads to a pattern which is kind of boring. But some local manufacturing unit probably in the east has come up with a new idea has implemented it and the result is the watch phone. Although the model itself is not so cool compared to the higher end models and other models such as the I phone etc, it is definitely a change from the default models.
But I wouldn’t recommend to users who require a functional model due to its limited features. But one should always appreciate the manufacturing company to come up with a bold idea. The watch has an inbuilt camera of 1.3 megapixels. And the other features include a Bluetooth, an auto tuning stereo FM radio and even an mp3 player and even though the screen is small they have modeled it as a touch screen. If one is looking for a cheap and a different model they can have this watch phone as an option.
Sony Ericsson T715
Jun 30th

Sony Ericsson has added a new model to their T-series phones – T715. The stylish slider phone boasts of 3G connectivity and a 3 Megapixel Camera. But it looks so good that it catches your eye instantly. The back cover is Aluminium brushed and the phone has two colour variants – Galaxy Silver and Rouge Pink. It is handy and quite compact for a slider phone.
The keypad is larger and the font is bigger, thereby texting is easier. The larger 2.2” screen is brighter than ever and SE has promised that it’d fare better in the broad day light than its predecessors. And another welcome change is that T715 accepts MicroSD cards too. The home screen of T715 resembles a “Smart Desktop” where birthdays, appointments and global events can be viewed. Apart from this, regular features like TrackID, PlayNow and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, FM radio with RDS are also available. YouTube, Google Maps and Google Search are also interfaced in this classy mobile. Expected price is not released yet, though it’s believed to be in the $300 margin.
As for the limitations, there are quite a few. First of all, there is no autofocus feature in the camera and the video recording is also not upto the mark. And though the finish is glossy, the design is crappy and SE could’ve concentrated more on that.
Bottom-line: An assortment of G705, W705 and W595. It’d be better if you stay away from it unless you want to try a hand at the Tseries mobiles.
Sony Ericsson W205
Jun 28th

The w205 also touted as the ‘your first walkman player’ is released by the Walkman mobile’s giant, sony Ericsson. All the features of the walkman series are included in the model. The features include a 65k color, 128×160 pixel TFT display and the model itself is a slider which is pretty cool as I am a slider mobile’s fan. The model also has additional features like track ID tracj recognition service for the songs, FM Radio with RDS and also data transfer is possible to other mobiles through bluetooth. The model has an inbuilt memory of 5 mb which can also be extended by memory cards released by sony. The camera is 1.3 mega pixels and the sound quality as usual is stupendous. The model comes with sony’s ear plugs and the combined effect is very great. The model supports six JSRs, including Mobile Media API (JSR 135), Java Technology for the Wireless Industry (JSR 185) and PDA Optional Packages for J2ME Platform (JSR 75). This model will be released this year and in selected markets to test the response by the general public. This model may not be the ultimate mobile but it sure has got all the basic features it could be useful if what you need is a basic feature mobile.
I phone
Jun 8th

Today I’m going to give you a brief review about one of the coolest mobile, I’m talking none other than the I phone. There is one thing common between the I phone and Paris Hilton, both of them have created a lot of hype. The device became so popular among the people that already a million users have booked the I phone long before was released. The I phone was so popular that at one time it was even referred to as the ‘jesus phone’. Many did including me did not believe that the model could live up to the hype, but now I see how wrong I am. The model not only lived up to the hype, it even surpassed it. Now many even said that it is the most advanced mobile to be ever sold on the market and even the most advanced hand held computer one can get. Some even spread ideas like it is the best I pod one could ask for.
There nothing much about the IPhone in terms of physical controls and features. The model weighs a rather hefty 145g and measures up at 115mm x 61mm x 12mm (4.5″ x 2.4″ x .47″). Just for comparison, the current model 30 or 80GB iPod weighs around a 136g. But most people were able to forgive the iPhone for its size and weight once they see the beautiful 3.5″ 480×320 pixel touch screen display that dominates the front of the device.
Batteries breathe to store ten times more energy
May 11th
Persons who constantly use cell phones and laptops are frequently annoyed by their battery capacity. But the researchers in University of St. Andrews, the UK have come up with a new innovative idea. The idea is no less short than amazing; to exceed the energy capacity of the battery they let the batteries ‘breathe’ oxygen from the air.
The major obstacle to increase the energy density an ordinary lithium ion battery is the anode, lithium cobalt oxide is bulky and heavy. The energy capacity can be increased by pushing the amount of lithium ions in the electrolyte. But how can it be done? The researchers have come up with the answer. The lithium cobalt oxide anode is replaced by the spongy material packed with lithium and porous carbon. When the battery is discharged the oxygen from the air comes in contact with lithium through the porous carbon and reacts with the lithium to form lithium oxide. This lithium oxide is now officially the anode of the battery and due to the non reactive nature of the porous carbon in the reaction, the number of lithium ions released is considerably increased and so is the energy capacity. This new technology is still under research and will be available in the market soon.
Sony Ericson G-502
Apr 19th

This is one of the latest models released by Sony Ericson recently. One could say it had a pretty good demand in the market. This model marks the beginning the 3G mobiles at a lower price.
The features include it is a slim mobile with a standard Sony Ericson keypad and a camera with a resolution of 2 mega pixels. The sound system in the mobile is also pretty good, but one shouldn’t compare this with the walkman series also released by Sony Ericson. The file transfer is possible through Bluetooth or by infra red or even by multimedia. The memory is 28 MB but the memory can be extended by a memory card made from Sony. But the above features are present in other models also; the main attraction of the G 502 is the internet facility. This model uses the 3G technology to connect to the internet, and one can even see stream videos from youtube etc. also the downloading speed is very high than the other mobiles in this price range. Even video conference is possible in this model. My suggestion is that if one is looking for a mobile with constant connection to the internet and also with the basic features, this is your best option. The price varies in different countries.
