NBA games go live on iPhone and Android

Good news for all Basketball lovers, now you can all watch live matches from your iPhone and your iPod  Touch. Not about to be outdone by basketball, pro basketball is getting in on live streaming to mobile phones. The National Basketball Association will announce its first set of applications that let fans watch games live on a mobile device. NBA League Pass Mobile will be available for download for the iPhone and the iPod Touch, and Android phones starting Friday. BlackBerry users will have to wait a bit longer, the league saying that the application will arrive “by the end of the year”. The NBA’s application will cost $39.99 and let users watch up to 40 live games per week via the Smartphone, though local TV blackout rules will still apply. Currently there is not added benefit if customers are already subscribers to the NBA’s League Pass TV package but there are plans for bundling the two in the near future. beside the live streaming app, the NBA already has its Game Time and Game Time Lite apps on Apple’s App Store, the Android Market, and BlackBerry App world. The Lite Version is free and comes with scores, stats, standings, and team schedules. Introducing this offer to Apple customers is going to increase the viewing of all basketball matches. More people would be interested in the sport and would give Baseball a run for their money. This would also help to increase the sales of Apple as most of its customers are youngsters. Introducing live TV streaming is a strategy used by Apple to leave its competitors behind. Hope this turns out to be a success and they introduce more live streaming channels.
