Playstation 3 is one of the major competitors in the market for the xbox and the Nintendo wii which all belong to the seventh generation video game consoles. Playstation 3 is the third of its kind to be officially released by sony in 2005. Playstation 3 when released caused much hype that there were cops all over the sony showroom to prevent any violence from happening during the first day sales. The playstation 3 reached the million mark target within a few days of its release. After its release there were some unfavourable reviews in many sites which pointed out the high price and many of the present games were not compatible to play with the playstation 3. PC World magazine even gave the playstation 3 the eighth place in the ‘Top 21 tech screwups of 2006’. In spite of the initial bad reviews the playstation 3 after a series of price revision reduced the selling price of the console. After that the console gradually got good reviews from various critic websites and gained popularity. But no one can blame the authentication and the gaming of the PS3, the PS3 provides you with a astounding home theatre experience which makes some you fall in love with the PS3 after they have worked in it. The PS3 comes with a 60 GB hard disk and various multimedia files can be stored in it. The console can even be connected to the playstation network for multiplayer games. The console supports even Blue Ray DVDs and the output is a 1080p high definition. Some professional gamers idea is that the money spent on PS3 is not wasted.

The playstation 2 is the gaming console in response to the Microsoft’s xbox and the Nintendo game cube. The playstation 2 is one of the sixth generation gaming consoles. Playstation 2 is the best selling gaming console with over 136 million sales till today. The success of PS2 has led to the development of new games some of which are due to release as long as 2010 making PS2 the longest ever gaming console. Thus the sixth generation is maintained due to PS2.
The story of PS2 is like a fairy tale. The models when released got less attention and only a few million people had bought the console. It was difficult for the console to find its way to the retailer shelf. The breakthrough came when Sony had tactically advertised PSP and revealing that PS2 is the first step in developing the PSP. And the second breakthrough came when the gamers started developing block buster games for the PS2. The PS2 was an instant success and the sales rocketed. The PS2 issues a twin shock controller which is till today a very cool piece of controller. The only negative issue about the PS2 is its size, the size is somewhat large and game cube being the smallest was proving to be a heavy competition to the PS2. Another issue is that the game cube support open market games which, is not achievable in PS2. But on the whole if one is looking for an economical and long term gaming console, the PS2 answers your call.
