Opel earned significant market successes with its minivan-type vehicles. Following the popular Zafira and Agila models, in Paris 2002, Opel presented the Meriva. It is vehicle of a thoroughly new design, utilizing only few of the Corsa sub-systems. The model, whose length slightly exceed 4 meters has been provided with a sophisticated system of variant rear seat configuration, whose central part can be folded, and the side seats adjusted within the vehicle. This way, a 5-seat car can turn into a comfortable 4-seat vehicle with space for quite a lot of luggage. The car comes with a 1.4-liter 90 hp engine, a 1.6-liter plant of 100 hp, a 1.8-liter 125 hp unit, and a 1.7-liter CDTi developing 75 or 100 hp.
